Mutare comes alive tonight as sungura king Alick Macheso takes his new album “Tsoka Dzerwendo” to Platinum (formerly Pick and Save).
Dubbed “Tsoka Dzerwendo album release party” the show will see the musician performing new songs as well as bringing his ‘prodigal son’ Jonasi Kasamba and Obert Gomba to the people.
Macheso who has just claimed his glory with the new album said he was looking forward to the show.
“For the four years we had no album, the people there have been supportive and we decided to have an album release party there. We are hoping to have a good show,” said Tich Makahamadze his spokesperson.
He said they will be introducing a new dance called “Mushikashika” as well as introducing Jonas Kasamba who had left the group.
“That will be the time to introduce Kasamba to people in Mutare as well as well as a new dance called Mushikashika,” said Makahamadze.
Event organiser Esau Mupfumi said they planned for the occasion following requests by patrons for the venue to hosts an album release party.
“The venue has become the most popular entertainment centre for Mutare and we considered our fans’ request that they needed an album release party,” he said.
He said they were ready for the day that is likely to attract many fans.
“People were looking forward to Macheso’s album release that is why they are looking forward for the show. His album is doing well on the local market and we are sure he does the same on stage,” he said.
The album has tracks “Baba”, “Kurarama Inyasha”, “Mude Mude”, “Wandirangaridza”, “Munyaradzi” and “Gungwa.”
He has managed to turn the fortunes of sungura with his latest release.
