Veteran musician Oliver Mtukudzi yesterday dismissed rumour circulating on social media that he died on Monday. Social media had been awash with reports that Tuku was found dead at his residence in Norton, leading to anxiety among fans and social media users.
Speaking to H-Metro through his manager Sam Mataure, Mtukudzi confirmed that he is alive and kicking. “The rumor is not true, it’s not new to us, people have said that several times. He is very fine and very much alive. We are not moved by such rumours and we are preparing for the festive season gigs,” said Mataure.
He added, “We have a show in South Africa on Thursday (tomorrow) at Boksburg hotel where we are taking on board Pakare Paye Ensamble. We will be introducing Mbeu, Fiona Gwena and Donald Kanyuchi among others to the fans at an international level,” he said.
Added; “We promise a good show as we will be giving these upcoming musicians a platform to show case their talent. After the show we will have two solo shows in Pretoria and Kimberly on Friday and Saturday respectively”.
