“Let’s pray for Kasamba. He is having problems with high blood pressure. He has been in hospital since Thursday. Our prayers will definitely help him.” Popular chanter and dancer Jonasi Kasamba is not feeling well and had to be hospitalised for three days. Kasamba was admitted at Chitungwiza Hospital last Thursday and was only discharged on Sunday evening. His wife Eriza told The Herald Review that the chanter had high blood pressure.

“He has a problem with high blood pressure and this time it was too high. He is recovering,” she said.

She said it was just unfortunate that his condition got worse towards the weekend and he could not go to work.

“He could not even go to work this weekend because of that. We just look up to God that he will be okay,” she said.

The chanter who returned to Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo’s camp early this year, after abandoning the outfit to join Francis Dhaka’s Extra Kwazvose, has not been well according to a source.

It is only that he is a strong man but he has problems with his hypertensive condition. He does not want to be disturbed with anything be it work related or family issues,” the source said.

The source added that his health problems forced the chanter to give his life to God.

His boss Alick Macheso told their legion of fans at a gig at Extra Mile Leisure Centre on Sunday that the chanter was not feeling well.

“Let’s pray for Kasamba he is having problems with high blood pressure. He has been in hospital since Thursday. Our prayers will definitely help him,” he said.

Kasamba, who lives in Chitungwiza is married to Eriza and has six children Koko, Ezrael, Sofia, Lilian, Bakanda, DeMathew and George.

The chanter is known for popularising several dances that include Zorai Butter.

He has been working with Macheso since the formation of his Orchestra Mberikwazvo before he joined Extra Kwazvose in 2013.

He rejoined Macheso in February this year.
