A 13 year old boy from Gunde Primary School under Chief Chitsunge Tuesday killed his friend after he tried to perform some wrestling antics on his colleague, police confirmed the incident.
The suspect (name withheld) reportedly grabbed his colleague and tripped him down in such a way that he landed on the ground on his head.
The deceased, Lawson Dhliwayo, complained of a serious headache after he was tripped down by his colleague. His father, Wilbert, 43, rushed the boy to a nearby clinic where they were referred to hospital but Lawson was pronounced dead on arrival at Parirenyatwa in Harare.
According to police, the deceased, who was in grade seven, was playing with his colleague aged 12 from the same school.
The suspect approached the deceased and grabbed him by his shoulder before tripping him down.
Lawson fell down and hit the ground on his head. The suspect ran away.
“As police, we urge parents and guardians to take cognizance of programmes their children watch on television. Children should be warned never to try what they see on wrestling or action movies on their colleagues,” said provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.
